St.Helier - A History and Celebration

Commissioned by the Francis Frith Collection for Ottaker's Book Shop, this hardback is one of  a series describing the histories of various towns and cities, throughout the country, in which Ottakers has a branch. Very much a book to dip into at one's leisure, St.Helier, is very well illustrated with 19th.century black and white photographs from the Frith Collection and modern colour photographs taken by the author.

"The author has a nice easy and readable style which carries the reader along. He appears knowledgable and seems to have done a lot of research. Wherever possible he tells the history through people, which makes it interesting."   Editor : Ottaker's St.Helier

"...Arthur Lamy has written an excellent essay on the history Of St.Helier. It reads easily but is full of interesting fact and pertinent comment, characteristics which indicate that Arthur is fully in command of his subject matter and a confident writer."  Review : The Jersey Society in London

"...a most readable and interesting text, complimented by excellent photos of a high standard."          Julia Skinner: Managing Editor, The Francis Frith Collection

Jersey Cycles  Exploring the Island by bike

Commissioned by Seaflower Books, Jersey Cycles is a guide book written especially for the leisure cyclist. All of the 12 parish based routes avoid hills and main roads, as much as possible, and instead use Jersey's unique 'cycle friendly' Green Lane network. Each circular route is approximately 10 miles long and in total the book describes over 185 miles of cycling in the island. Illustrated with sketch maps and black and white photographs by the author.

"I had met Arthur at the Where in St.Helier is it ? presentation evening where he thrust into my hand some articles he'd had published in a local magazine, each one describing a cycle ride in the island. I liked his style - thorough and well informed - and offered to publish a book."   Roger Jones, Seaflower Books

Nearly 2000 copies sold.
