' Discover an island that lies beyond the reach of the everyday visitor ' I am very happy to organise a tailor made tour for you, based on a particular theme, subject or interest. My vast experience as a Blue Badge guide means that I can blend site visits, breathtaking scenery, fabulous food and affordable transport, to create a memorable day out. On the other hand, you might find one of the following walking or cycling tours suitable. These are ideal if you have a morning or afternoon free as they can be organised at short notice. Walking Tours A Day in the Life 3 hours Meeting Point: King George V statue in the Howard Davis Park. Everything that you wanted to know about life in Jersey, but were afraid to ask! Using the sights, sounds and smells of Havre des Pas, the Bathing Pool and the Harbour, we find out what makes Jersey so unique and precious to its inhabitants and visitors alike. We finish the walk back at the Howard Davis Park. Difficulty: Easy/Medium Distance: 3 Miles/4.8 Kilometres
Memory Lanes 3 hours Meeting Point: St.Martin’s Parish Hall Bus 23 out, Bus 3 back Join me in my home parish of St.Martin. Drawing on memories of almost a lifetime living in the parish, this circular walk will inform and entertain. (names changed to proctect the innocent). We stroll through country lanes and woodland, and possibly do a little beach walking as well. Mix history and culture with parochial life and the result is an intimate, warm and colourful view of Jersey. Stout footwear with a grippy sole is advisable. Lillie Langtry - Her Life and Times 3 hours Meeting Point: St.Saviour's Church lych gate. Bus 23 Travelling from her birth place to her final resting place, we follow the fascinating life of Lillie Langtry, the Jersey Lily. An astonishingly beautiful and single minded woman, she lived a life that others only dreamt of. Feted by society, friend of Oscar Wilde, mistress of the Prince of Wales, actress and successful business woman, Lillie took every opportunity that came her way. Older than the Pyramids 3 hours Meeting Point: Gorey Pier bus shelter. Bus 1 out, Bus 3 or 23 back A linear walk in which we discover two Neolithic passage graves. Find out how and why these mysterious structures were built, and how they relate to island history. The walk finishes at La Hougue Bie, (entrance at your own expense), a dolmen that is widely recognised as one of the finest in North West Europe. After the walk, one is free to explore the other attractions at La Hougue Bie. Among these are an archaelogy and geology gallery, and an underground bunker that has been converted into a memorial to World War 2 slave workers. Difficulty: Medium Distance: 3 Miles/4.8 Kilometres
The Battle of Jersey – The Barons Last Hours 3hours Meeting Point: Liberation Square, St.Helier Walk in the Baron de Rullecourt's footsteps as we retrace his night time advance through the deserted streets of St.Helier. Find out how he captures the Governor and bluffs him into capitulating. Will his deceptions work? Will the island fall into De Rullecourt's hands? Relive the dramas of the last land battle fought in the British Isles. Difficulty: Easy Distance: 2.5 Miles/5 Kilometres
Glorious Gorey 3 hours Meeting Point : Gorey Pier Bus Shelter Bus 1 Guarded by the medieval castle of Mont Orgueil and nurtured by the sea, Gorey has a history that stretches from the Neolithic right up to the present day. While the castle echoes tales of treachery and espionage, the village reflects the social history of the Victorian oystermen and boat builders. We walk on the golf links where the six time winner of the British Open, Harry Vardon, learnt his skills and on the beach that supplied much of the sand for Hitler's Alantic Wall. Difficulty: Medium/Hard Distance: 5 Miles/8.1 Kilometres
Art in the open air - The St.Helier sculpture trail 3 hours Meeting Point : Liberation Square, St.Helier A circular walk around the bustling town of St.Helier, in which we visit several of the parishes' iconic statues and monuments. In a journey that takes us from the mid seventeenth century to the present day, we find out how and when these sculptures were made; what inspired the artist and how these pieces of art fit into the jigsaw of island heritage. Difficulty: Easy Distance: 3 Miles/5 Kilometres
Rural Rambles 6 hours Meeting Point : Trinity Church lych gate. Bus 4 out, Bus 1 back After a brief tour around the 11th century church, the gradient will draw us eastwards towards the coast. On the way, we shall pass Parish schools, ancient water mills and war memorials. After lunch at the Royal Hotel, St.Martin (at your own expense), we head east again towards the sea. We walk the length of Queen's Valley Reservoir and take in some breathtaking coastal panoramas before descending into Gorey Village. Our walk finishes at the Gorey Potteries, where one can look around the pottery or enjoy a coffee in the cafe. Difficulty: Easy/Medium Distance: 8.5 Miles/14 Kilometres
Almost downhill all the way 6 hours Meeting Point : Bonne Nuit Slipway Bus 4 After an initial climb to the heights of La Tete de Fremont, we follow a stream that rises in St.John, and trace its course as it flows south towards the sea. We walk past the first reservoirs built in Jersey, including Handois Reservoir, which is usually closed to the public. Learn about the island's watermills, the German Occupation and ghostly apparitions as we walk along the shady Millenium Path that runs through some of the prettiest scenery in Jersey. The walk finishes at the Old station Cafe in St.Aubin's Bay. Walkers are advised to bring a picnic for this all day walk. Difficulty: Medium/Hard Distance: 6Miles/10Kilometres
The ‘Side to Side’ 2 Day walk This cross island odyssey takes us through nine of the island’s prettiest valleys and past three of the largest reservoirs. The route uses woodland paths and quiet country lanes as much as possible. The more intrepid may care to do the whole walk in one day, it’s certainly possible with an early start, a good pace and less interpretation.
The Side to Side Day 1 Gorey to St.Lawrence Church 7 hours Meeting Point : Gorey Pier bus shelter Bus 1 out, Bus 7 back Today's walk starts in the shadow of Mont Orgueil castle, in the fishing village of Gorey. After a brief stroll through the village, we walk around Queen's Valley Reservoir and through 'Peacock Valley' before stopping for a coffee at La Hougue Bie. Then on to Grand Vaux, where we touch the suburbs of St.Helier, before the shady Vallee des Vaux leads us back out into the countryside. Fern Valley and Waterworks Valley are our next two glimpses of Jersey at its best, before a final climb up to St.Lawrence Church. Difficulty: Medium/Hard Distance: 11 Miles/18 Kilometres
The Side to Side Day 2 St.Lawrence Church to St.Ouen’s Bay 7 hours Meeting Point : St.Lawrence Church Bus 7 out, Bus 12a back After a short visit to the parish church, we follow a coffin path towards the War Tunnels, where we stop for refreshments. A wooded climb past second World War 2 slit trenches leads us into St.Peter's Valley. A charming path, running beside the valley stream, takes us to Le Moulin de Quetivel, a working water mill in the care of the National Trust for Jersey. We then leave the woodland and use quiet country lanes until we reach Val de la Mare, our last valley and final reservoir. An ancient track used by militiamen, on their way to drill training at the parish church, takes us out of Val de la Mare and onto the final descent towards the Atlantic breakers of St.Ouen's Bay. Difficulty: Medium/Hard Distance: 8 Miles/12.8 Kilometres
Cycling Tours Eastern Promise 3hours Meeting Point : Liberation Square, St.Helier This route takes us east, through the coffin paths of St.Clement towards Gorey. On the way we pass Millenium Stones, ancient churches and other vestiges of island life. Using Jersey’s unique cycle network and speed restricted Green Lanes, we explore at our leisure, (we walk up hills !). An ideal way to see, smell and hear what most people pass by.

Graveyards of the rich and famous 3hours
Meeting Point : Liberation Square, St.Helier
In this episode of 'Graveyards of the rich and famous', we cycle west to the ancient graveyard of St.Brelade's Church. Here we will unearth tales of artists, benefactors and bailiffs. Using quiet roads and Green Lanes, this leisurely ride(we walk up the hills !) is the ideal way to see the island and find out a little more about the island's past personalities. Difficulty: Medium Distance: 12 Miles /20 kilometres
Pagan Rides 3hours
Meeting Point : Liberation Square, St.Helier
Dust off your bike in time to join this leisurely (we walk up the hills !) ride around some of the dolmens in the east of the island. Find out how and why these fascinating structures, which predate the Pyramids, were built and how they fit into the island’s history.Using Green Lanes and the Cycle Network we will visit three dolmens during the morning, finishing our tour with a visit to La Hougue Bie (discounted admission charge at your own expense), one of the finest dolmens in North-Western Europe.

Heritage Heartland 3hours
Meeting Point : Liberation Square, St.Helier Using Jersey’s unique Cycle Network with it’s tranquil and scenic Green Lanes, we travel through the island’s glorious history as we travel through her glorious countryside. Touching on tradition, farming and the Occupation, this short leisurely ride (we walk up the hills !) is the ideal introduction to Jersey for anyone who enjoys the pleasures that only cycling can provide. Difficulty: Medium Distance: 12 Miles/20 kilometres
Towards Trinity 3hours
Meeting Point : Liberation Square, St.Helier
A chance to discover Jersey by bike and delight in the charm of the island’s tiny lanes and verdant valleys. We pass millponds and manor houses, farmland and countryside as we head north towards Trinity. Experience what the motorist misses ! Difficulty: Medium Distance: 15 Miles/25 kilometre
